Cruise with your Skipper and Experienced Guide to Kumutoto Bay to enjoy a beautiful beach with fun activities or a short stroll and see the beautiful regenerating native bush. This DOC Reserve has native bird species, a pristine native forest a stunning beach to swim from. Many species of Sea Birds or mammals can be seen on the way there or back during the 1 hour Journey. Spend an hour at the beach or in the bush with fun options you can choose, this Tour also provides samples of Yealands award-winning local wine. It is possible to see Penguins, Seals, Dolphins, King Shags, Shear Waters, Gannets, Spotted Shags, Swim from the Beach or Snorkel, Beach Badminton/volleyball, and paddle a FREE sit-on Kayak (if available), You can also just relax on a Beach Chair and soak in the Marlborough Magic. A portion of each Tour is Given Back to Conservation locally. 🙂

Got a Cruise Ship or Ferry to catch?

This short tour has been designed with our partners at the Interislander Ferry to coordinate perfectly with their ferry departures – so this tour is perfect if you have a few spare hours in Piton before your ferry leaves.

For Cruise Ship passengers this Short tour means you get to see the BEST and be back in time for Departures. We can also take Group Bookings and pick up from the Ship 🙂 

Tour Overview

  • Depart Picton waterfront and learn from the Experienced Guide/ Skipper about the Local Geography, History and Wildlife as you cruise to Kumutoto Bay a DOC Reserve in a Pristine sheltered location.
  • A portion of each Tour FEE is Given Back to Conservation locally. 🙂

About Kumutoto Bay, Department of Conservation Reserve

This area is maintained by the Department of Conservation and E-ko has the Concession to Offer Guided Walks here. The area has many old native species like Totara , Rimu , Beach Trees and was not extensively logged. The coastal track goes through some beautiful examples of the bush right up to the water’s edge which give you amazing photos. The Track is easy and relatively flat to a small isolated bay with a return of 40 minutes at a steady stroll. Or just walk to the point 10 minutes return. A basic DOC Tiolet is at the main Wharf in Kumamoto Bay.

We depart from Picton Waterfront which has a carpark 200 metres from the E-Ko shop 🙂

Where are we?

We are located conveniently on Picton’s main waterfront with car parking close by and only a 1-minute walk from the main street.

Just look for the Dusky Dolphin outside our shop.

Before your tour starts feel free to take a seat inside the shop or outside on our sun drenched deck and enjoy the stunning views.

Customers can also get online with our free WiFi, and purchase a tea or coffee to enjoy on the deck.
