About the Tour
Join the Queen Charlotte Cruise and be dropped off at Kumototo Bay with its idyllic setting amongst the native bush.
Look for mammals and seabirds on the boat whilst cruising to this beautiful spot in the most sheltered area of the inner sound.
This is an excellent spot for a family or a romantic picnic, with its own short walk and ancient trees. There is a DOC campsite if you want to stay the night.
This is a local secret spot where we go to unwind and relax 🙂
You can hire a Mask, Snorkel and wetsuit and enjoy the water. The coastal walk takes you to the prettiest bay in the inner sounds, or just relax on your own beach and unwind.
What to expect
The Short walk at Kumototo bay follows an old access route to Queen Charlotte Track which is an easy walk as it follows the coastline into the next beautiful bay.
The Campsite itself is beside a beautiful private beach and has a small stream flowing through it. Toilets are provided by the Department of Conservation.
There are great examples of native flora with some of the oldest Totara and Matai trees in the southern part of the Queen Charlotte sound.
What to bring
You can bring your swimming shorts in summer and beach equipment or hire a mask, snorkel and wetsuit to enjoy the water.
The Walking track is easy and only basic footwear is required.
If you are staying the night or having a picnic, bring a rubbish bag to take everything out 🙂
