All in all its a wonderful time of year to visit the calm and sheltered Marlborough Sounds.

Spring in Marlborough Sounds

Its Spring and we have been absolutely spoilt with AMAZING wildlife and spectacular weather here in the Marlborough Sounds!!

From the tiny Blue Penguins to large groups of Dusky Dolphins we have certainly enjoyed a variety of wildlife over the past few weeks. We have had some amazing swimming expereinces with our dusky dolphins really enjoying the interactions with lots of enthusiastic swimmers singing to them. The worlds smallest and rarest oceanic Dolphins, the Hector's, have also been out and about and in the most boisterous of moods with great leaps of excitement upon our approach.

Birds enjoying the Marlborough Sounds

Other species sighted include many a Blue Penguin, eagerly feeding to supply there chicks needs, loads of NZ Fur Seals lazing in the sun on coastal rocks and Rowi Kiwi chicks, released at their temporary home of Motuara Island.  The rare King Shag has been seen roosting on Blumine Island in larger groups of around 10-15 birds and the Orange Fronted Parakeet has eagerly greeted our guests on the Birdwatchers Expedition.

All in all its a wonderful time of year to visit the calm and sheltered Marlborough Sounds. With our talented team of guides and skippers we love getting out on the water and sharing with you our beautiful backyard! Join us as we spread our conservation message and introduce you to the rare and endangered species that call the sounds home!
